Rights under Turkish data protection law

Article 11 provides rights to learn whether your data is processed, request information about processing and transfers, and seek correction of inaccurate or incomplete data. Where the statutory conditions are met, you may request deletion or destruction and notification of those actions to recipients. You may also object to a result against you produced solely through automated analysis and seek compensation for damage caused by unlawful processing. See the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority’s explanation of individual rights.

Application requirements and responses

A general content report and a formal personal data application may have different requirements. Formal applications under the Turkish rules are made in Turkish and must meet the Authority’s requirements for methods and application details. An ordinary email address used for the first time may not, on its own, satisfy every requirement. Any necessary identity, authority or procedural information is clarified according to the request.

Applications meeting the statutory requirements are resolved as soon as their nature permits and within 30 days. Acceptance or a reasoned refusal is communicated in writing or electronically. This does not mean that every item will be removed. See the Authority’s guidance on responding to applications.
